Another Brilliant Book by Geoff
This is the long awaited sequel to the ground-breaking "Watch my Back", and it is well worth the wait. It reflects a more mature view on fighting, as Geoff is now a third dan, trying to avoid getting physical too often. Having said that the fight stories are shocking, realistic and all with the vein of humour that is in all Geoff`s books. Go and buy this book!!!!

Bradbury Thompson: The Art of Graphic Design
Published in Hardcover by Yale Univ Pr (October, 1988)
Author: Bradbury Thompson
Average review score:

More than a Biography...
This gorgeous memoir showcasing Bradbury Thompson's work for Westvaco Paper is, without doubt, one of the most prized books in my design library. It is beautifully crafted and printed and is a full-color, visually rich stroll through one of the most significant design careers of the 20th century. Reflections from several contributors guide readers through Thompson's experiences at Westvaco and reveal the imagination and intelligence of an unassuming genius. The text is a balanced accompaniment to his work and unpacks the philosophically and technically innovative processes Thompson used for producing exceptionally creative work in the post-war world of publishing. Thompson is not afraid to credit sentiment, collaborate with the other arts, or find inspiration in any source. Furthermore, his solutions are sensitive to the practical demands of life in the 40's and 50's. Deadlines, the value of humor, the importance of family, and the desire for experimentation are woven throughout the chapters and projects. The book is organized by projects and ranges from his Monalphabet, Alphabet 26, and designing the Washburn Bible to purely aesthetic concerns of creating motion with graphics and type. Students and designers who believe visually exciting, cutting-edge design is exclusive to their own immediate recollections of 20th century trends will be amazed to discover ideas, visual experimentation and originality over fifty years old. This is also print design pre-dtp and so the manipulations of type, image and color are absolute technical marvels. The resulting aesthetic is stronger than simply a cool retro "look" and for most designers will be simply ... inspirational.

This CD Set Meets ALL Expectations!
My wife was privileged to work under Pat Moffit Cook and we were thrilled to see Brainwave Symphony on the shelves when it was released. We have heard many CD sets, and none of them have met our expectations until now! If you have sleep problems, I can't recommend this set highly enough! The "Delta" CD worked wonders for our sleep patterns, and I often run the "Beta" CD all day long as I work. It really helps with focus and clarity. I am really looking forward to seeing what is next for Pat Moffit Cook!

The Breath of Parted Lips: Voices from the Robert Frost Place

A remarkable anthology of twenty-four poets
The Franconia, New Hampshire, farm of the American poet Robert Frost was turned into a museum and center for poetry and the arts in 1976. From that time, "The Frost Place" has been annual event wherein an emerging poet has been invited to spend the summer living in the house where Frost once lived and wrote some of his greatest poetry. The Breath Of Parted Lips: Voices From The Robert Frost Place, Volume One is a remarkable anthology of twenty-four poets, each of whom won that honor of a summer's residency and document the success of the original concept as a means of generating outstanding poetry while nurturing the poet's muse in the rooms and views that were once the inspiration of the great Robert Frost. Poem At 40: Windwashed--as if standing next to the highway,/a truck long as the century sweeping by,/all things at last bent in the same direction./An opening, as if all/the clothes my ancestors ever wore/dry on lines in my body:/wind-whipped, parallel with the ground,/some sleeves sharing a single clothespin/so that they seem to clasp hands,/seem to hold on.//And now that I can see/up the old women's dresses,/there's nothing but a filtered light./And now that their men's smoky breath/has traversed the earth,/it has nothing to do with them./And now that awkward, fat tears of rain/slap the window screen,/now that I'm naked too,/cupping my genitals, tracing with a pencil/the blue vein between my collar bone and breast,/I'll go to sleep when I'm told.

Brown Shoes, Black Shoes, and Felt Slippers: Unions of the Post-War U.S. Navy

Author: Roger Thompson
Average review score:

Bureaucratic politics in the US Navy
This book was endorsed by the late Admiral Elmo "Bud" Zumwalt, USN Chief of Naval Operations (1970-1974). He considered it "essential reading for professional naval officers." It covers the entire psot-war era, and documents how the rivalry between surface warriors, aviators and submariners have undermined the biggest navy in the world. It features a very extensive bibliography, and has been endorsed by Charles Moskos, Rear Admial James Forrest, USN (Ret) and many others. This book was originally published by the US Naval College in 1995.

The Bruises of Satan (Books by Other Authors Ser)
Published in Paperback by Christ for the Nations (June, 1982)
Author: Carroll Thompson
Average review score:

Simple reading, but the truth usually is.
This short read is characteristic of the author himself: simple, to the point, focused on its theme, and honest. To be perfectly fair, the book is on the dry side, but the truth contained in its pages is hard to ignore. It focuses on the discreet (and not so discreet) ways the adversary of Christianity can damage an individual on a psychological level. Things in a person's past that said adversary may inflict with the goal of preventing a relationship with the Creator. If God uses the simple to confound the wise, then this simple volume could solve a lot of complicated problems.

Buried, but Not Forgotten

A MUST READ
This novel was one that I couldn't put down. From the first page, it had me completely into the charactors, their problems and by the end, the way they dealt with such problems. Beth was very emotional, but true to life. I'd recommend this book to anyone who wants to laugh, cry and rejoice with the charactors in a book of such a nature. And when the end came, my heart was touched so much that I am waiting for Tammy Thompson to come out with another book just as wonderful. Don't pass this one up.

Business Diagnostics: Evaluate and Grow Your Business
Published in Paperback by Trafford (20 June, 2001)
Authors: Michael Thompson and Richard Mimick
Average review score:

An excellent framework for sizing up your business
Business Diagnostics provides a concise framework for sizing up your business enterprise. Mimick and Thompson provide a framework that allows a busy entrepreneur to evaluate key factors in their business environment. It does not go into tremendous detail in accounting, finance, and marketing, but keys on the most relevant areas for the small to medium sized business owner. If you used Coles notes to help you with Shakespeare - you'll love this book to help you with your business.
Although I have the Canadian edition, I believe the framework and examples provided are almost universally applicable.

Cactus Corners, Arizona
Published in Paperback by Golden West Pub (October, 1998)
Author: Ray Thompson
Average review score:

Cactus Corners - the Southwest's answer to Lake Wobegon
The author has captured the essence of what it was like to be a broadcaster in a small town in the . . . 50's or 60's, perhaps? To anyone who survived working in radio before and during "Top 40", or in the early days of local television, this will ring a bell. Whimsical, funny, sometimes belly-laughing. Thompson evokes an era and reveals some behind-the-scenes hilarity. Read it with laughter but . . don't wake the neighbors!
